USA 76
Groups to 20
These yachts are just a small handfull of IACC yachts in America licensed to carry 20 guests. A full racing America’s Cup crew is 18. Yachts come with 3 or 4 crew and your charter opportunity is 3 hours. Sit back, relax and enjoy the thrill or take turns pitching in on the helm, ‘coffee-grinders’ and other crew positions. Your first trip on one of these awesome yachts will take your breath away.
Your Yacht
USA 76…famous 84 Ft America’s Cup yacht from the stables of “Oracle Racing”, for a hands-on Interactive sail through San Francisco Bay with soft beverages included. You will soon have the option of renting two of these yachts and spreading your team between them. (We’ll let you know as soon as the 2nd yacht is available.) Even though we can carry 20, we don’t need 20 to run the yacht. We regularly have groups of 14 to 20 who will split evenly between the yachts for maximum competition. On your sailing day, if your budget does not extend to both yachts then we will do our best to schedule a “public/Tourist” sail on the other yacht at the same time, thus providing your guests and the ‘public’ with a race opportunity. While this may not always be possible, we too like to see both yachts out match-racing as we know this is what delivers you the very best experience and at the end of the day, seeing you depart with big smiles is what we strive to achieve.
Sailing Time
For up to 3 hours…..starting at your ‘preferred’ time (after morning meetings, after lunch, with lunch, late afternoon finishing near sunset, Etc.). Sailing is best after 9:30 am when the breeze has had time to build, but we do occasionally have very successful trips that start earlier based on our clients only available time.
Description
Guests arrive 20 minutes before departure, are given an orientation of the yacht and its history, will be offered an opportunity to participate as crew or option to just sit back and enjoy. Trimming the sails on the big geared handles known affectionately as “coffee grinders” plus taking a turn to steer this huge yacht are just two of the highlights of this fast sail through the best water scenery in town. Guests simply have to dress for the weather on the day. You will usually not get wet and certainly will not get seasick. Guests should bring cameras, sunscreen, hat & soft-sole shoes. Guests can byo food & aditional beverages to compliment our cooler of bottled water. We can assist you with food & beverage arrangements if you wish.
Why You Should Do This
Because this is a “once in a lifetime” sailing experience on one of the most recognized yacht name is international sailing. This is “USA-76” the yacht that won 21 of 33 races in the 2003 America’s Cup. It is sailed by Brad Webb, America’s Cup legendary bowman and longest serving crew of the Oracle Racing team. Because the America’s Cup is back in this country, and most importantly it is soon to be raced on this very same water in the summer of 2013. Because this experience delivers you the very best “bragging rights” back home….that’s why you need to bring your camera.
Summary
This is an amazing opportunity on an expanse of water as exciting as San Francisco Bay. It is fitting that these big yachts are here as San Francisco is about to be just the 3rd US venue for the America’s Cup in 143 years. Only two other cities in the USA have held the America’s Cup races….the others being New York / Newport, RI and San Diego. Our own crew will provide your guests with the most intimate and up to date knowledge of the next America’s Cup event in 2013….an inside look as such.
